Precision Farming mod for FS22

If you looked at Farming Simulator mods, you have seen Precision Farming mod. This mod is created for Farming Simulator 19, but we think that will have FS22. What is this mod we will introduce in this article.

Precision Farming mod created by Giants (FS developers) at the beginning of 2021. From the mod name can be deduced, that this mod is decided to precision farming. The mod let you make your virtual farm more eco-friendly and sustainable. Or more precisely you can control and examine the pH, Nitrogen and soil types of your fields.

Examine a field

Firstly. to research your fields you need to buy an in-game soil sampling unit. This mod uses Isaria Scout implement to take soil samples. The unit can be attached to small tractors or cars, like John Deere Gator. Also, this unit available for rent if you want to save some money for better farming machinery.

When you buy a soil sampling implement you must go to your field, which you want to examine. Then lower the unit and take a sample. This tool digs the hole in the ground and takes a soil sample. Usually from 90 centimetres depth. After that send the sample to a laboratory. For this action enough single button click. The unit wrap only a small area of the field. Usually, you need to make about 3 samples from a small field and more than 10 samples from a large field. If you take too few samples, you cannot know your field real situation. Because one side field can have good pH, but the second side bad.

Soil types

If you use Precision Farming mod your virtual field has different soil types. Different soil types affect yield when you harvest. After sending off the sample to the laboratory, open the game menu with the Esc button. Then select the Precision Farming tab. Here you can see the results of field soil.

In Farming Simulator included these soil types: loamy sand, sandy loam, loam and silly clay. What soil is the best for farming? Usually there is no one answer. But one of the best for all plants is loamy soils. Loamy soil can have sand, clay and silt. This set of components is pretty good for all types of plant.

In the game you can’t control soil type. But you can choose what to seed in every field, when you know soil type.

Nitrogen

Another soil factor is nitrogen. Nitrogen is really important to grow plants. In other words, Nitrogen is fertilizer. In the world is many kind fertilizer types. Farming Simulator has major fertilizer types. Fertilizer level you also can examine by the same process like soil type. The nitrogen level can be increased by applying either fertilizer or manure.

Slurry or manure will increase the nitrogen level by a fixed value depending on the soil type. Mineral and liquid fertilizer adjust the nitrogen level automatically if the crop is already planted.

pH value

Another important factor is the pH value of the ground. This element indicates the acidity or basicity of soil. The pH value should be always optimal if you want to get more yield. Different soil types have different optimal values of pH.

pH values by soil type:
– Loamy Sand: 6
– Sandy Loam: 6.5
– Loam: 6.75
– Silty Clay: 7

pH value can be increased by liming the field. This is recommended by every third harvest. By default, the lime spreader automatically adjusts the optimal pH level, but also you can control it manually.

The pH level decreased after every harvest depending by soil type.

Be smarter farmer

So, if you want to get perfect yield results, try to Precision Farming mod. This mod will be released for FS22. Also, you can try it on FS19. This mod has a few more features. One of them Yield map. You can see a detailed map with specific yield spots on the field.
